What the community has to say…

“A student who never has snacks to bring to school is given a free breakfast, but it doesn’t keep him full until his late lunch. The snacks provided by the Power Snacks program allowed him to focus and work because he had a healthy snack to last through the long morning from 7:30 until 1:10 pm”

Amy Liesveld, Counselor, Denton ISD

“I hear over and over from the teachers that the students who come for snacks are making better choices, and they can get more work out of them after they have had a snack. Thank you so much for all that you are doing.”

Ann Athey Nurse, Denton ISD

“The students know that the snacks are available and this is helpful because they have to come into my office for a snack. This gives me a chance to check-in with them or lets them tell me what may be bothering them.”

Tracy Chapman Counselor, Denton ISD

“We had a new student who was so food insecure that he could not focus on his schoolwork. These snacks have helped him to feel safe and secure at school and in turn, have improved his focus.”

Holly McCuller Counselor, Denton ISD

“My son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was three years old. Our world, as we knew it, was turned upside down and falling apart. Helping Hands was there for us from the very beginning, with that initial diagnosis and beyond. They provided help throughout treatment and then a celebration once Connor completed Chemotherapy! I’ll be forever grateful for their support.”
