Providing Support to Families and Children in times of Crisis
Children are the heart of our organization
Helping Hands for Little Hearts was created to help families with young children through unexpected, sudden life-changing circumstances & events.
To create a regional/national platform to help families in critical need of support, both financially and emotionally, who are experiencing hardships by unforeseen circumstances.
Summer camps provide great feelings of nostalgia for adults. However, some children who wish to attend summer camps as we did simply cannot, due to their family’s financial strains. With this in mind, we created the Spring Break and Summer Camp scholarship program.
The holidays can be especially challenging and stressful for so many families. Our program allows us to purchase certain gifts from selected family’s wish list to provide a welcomed bit of holiday cheer.
Power Snacks provides nutritious, high protein snacks and essential breakfast items for children participating in the State Funded Free/Reduced Lunch Program. Our goal is to allow these children the comfort of a quick breakfast or healthy snack in the morning, so the can remain engaged and focused period.
Natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and fires happen all too often these days. Our Disaster/Crisis Relief program is here to help alleviate some of the loss that can come with these disasters.
What the community has to say…
“A student who never has snacks to bring to school is given a free breakfast, but it doesn’t keep him full until his late lunch. The snacks provided by the Power Snacks program allowed him to focus and work because he had a healthy snack to last through the long morning from 7:30 until 1:10 pm”
“I hear over and over from the teachers that the students who come for snacks are making better choices, and they can get more work out of them after they have had a snack. Thank you so much for all that you are doing.”
“The students know that the snacks are available and this is helpful because they have to come into my office for a snack. This gives me a chance to check-in with them or lets them tell me what may be bothering them.”
“We had a new student who was so food insecure that he could not focus on his schoolwork. These snacks have helped him to feel safe and secure at school and in turn, have improved his focus.”
“My son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was three years old. Our world, as we knew it, was turned upside down and falling apart. Helping Hands was there for us from the very beginning, with that initial diagnosis and beyond. They provided help throughout treatment and then a celebration once Connor completed Chemotherapy! I’ll be forever grateful for their support.”
